All registered Friends for Life! Walk™ participants, who raise a minimum of $25 or more, will automatically receive a 2015 Friends for Life! Walk™ t-shirt at their local walk registration booth.

Team Rewards

Teams who raise funds through group initiatives (e.g. pledges to the team, bake sales, dress down at work day, etc.) qualify for team prizing.

Friends for Life! Walk Jr. Paw Student Program

Students you can earn your community hours when you fundraise for the Friends for Life! Walk.Fundraise $500 in support of a local Ontario SPCA shelter in exchange for 10 community hours. The student will not be eligible for fundraising awards or rewards. Download this special Student Hours pledge form and begin your fundraising now.

 

Fundraising Tips

  • Ask 20 friends to donate $5 each
  • Ask 10 friends to donate $10 each
  • Send an email from your Participant Centre to family and friends, explaining what the Friends for Life! Walk™ is and ask for a donation. Suggestion: Always ask for more than you expect. Example: If you want $10, ask for $20. Be sure to include a due date to send a donation.
  • Send the email from your pet to family and friends. You might also want to send this out to your veterinarian.
  • Take a walk around your neighborhood. Knock on doors and ask your neighbors for their support.
  • Arrange a dress-down day at work. Anyone dressing down will have to pay. Be sure you have a sign that says, “Please excuse our appearance today, we are dressing down to benefit the Friends for Life! Walk™” You could charge anywhere from $2 to $5 per person to dress down. You could arrange these on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Arrange with the principal of a local school for baseball cap day. Usually caps are not allowed, however, for $1, once a month, a student could wear a baseball cap in class. Be sure to have a sign ready that says, “Caps for a Cause you will see students today sporting baseball caps as a fundraiser in support of the Friends for Life! Walk™.
  • Hold a can & bottle drive.
  • Set a fundraising goal and share it. People want to help you achieve your goal.
  • Share your story as to why you’re involved with the Friends for Life! Walk™, why it’s important to you, and how animals have brought happiness to your life.
  • Email everyone you know! Tell them why you are walking and ask them to pledge you.
  • Ask the first person who makes a donation to make a generous donation. Then encourage others to match.
  • Find out if your employer will match your fundraising total it’s a quick way to double your donations.
  • Start a spare change box and collect your extra coins - just see how it adds up.
  • Customize your email signature and voice message to let everyone know you’re fundraising.


Handling Donations

Now that the hard work is over, here are the three options you can choose from to return your Friends for Life! Walk™ funds. Please choose one of the methods outlined below.

Option 1. Online fundraising only.

Encourage all of your supporters to donate to your page - they are able to use credit card to make a secure transaction. These donations will be receipted via email once the payment has been processed. These donations will contribute to your online fundraising total.

This is the easiest and most environmentally friendly option!

 

Option 2. Track orders & return cash or cheque through your Participant Centre.

Download a Friends for Life! Walk™ Donation Form. Collect cash and cheques (made out to you) and enter the information on donors who want a tax receipt on the form (we typically issue tax receipts for those who donate $10 or more).

Login to your Participant Centre, click on Enter a New Gift. Enter your donations online and pay in those donations with your own personal credit card (you can enter their information, name and home mailing address only, so they get the tax receipt). If your donors do not require a tax receipt for their donation, just add up all your money and make one donation using your credit card for the lump sum.

Donors who wish to receive a tax receipt: For a valid tax receipt to be issued, the donor’s complete home address information must be provided. Tax receipts c/o participant’s address will not be valid or issued. Please DO NOT use your email address as a substitute if the donor’s email is not available. Tax receipts will be mailed to donors within 4-6 weeks of the event. All donations must be received by midnight on August 31st, 2015 to be counted toward our fundraising competitions!

 

Option 3: Track donations and return cheques and bring to your local walk location.

Download a Friends for Life! Walk™ Donation Form. Collect cash and cheques from your donors and enter the information of the donors who want a tax receipt on the form (we typically issue tax receipts for those who donate $10 or more). Login to your Participant Centre, click on Enter a New Gift.

Enter your donations online, then bring your Donation Form with collected cheques and cash to the Friends for Life! Walk™ in your area.

All donations must be received by midnight on August 31st, 2015 to be counted toward our fundraising competitions excluding Early Bird draw!

All cheques you bring to the event, must be made out to Friends for Life! Walk™.

Please note that your donors will receive a tax receipt by mail from the Ontario SPCA, who are administering the campaign. Funds will be then directed to your society of choice (if different than Ontario SPCA).

Please see the three digit code that corresponds to the participating society you are fundraising for and enter it in the upper-right hand corner of your offline Friend for Life! Walk™ Donation Form.
