When we first met this big fluffball, who is just 2 years young, we quickly realized that both of his eyes had developed upper and lower entropion. Entropion is a condition where the eyelid rolls inward, causing the eyelashes and surrounding hair to rub against a dog's sensitive cornea. Entropion results in eye irritation, and if not remedied quickly, can lead to ulcers on the cornea.
We knew we needed to act quickly to give Captain the best chance at a happy and pain-free future. Captain underwent surgery shortly after his arrival in our care to correct the entropion on his eyelids. While he was under sedation, he also had some early dental disease treated with a thorough cleaning. Captain came through his surgery well and was ready to go into a foster-to-adopt home. Or so we thought...
It turned out that Captain had some other ideas, and got up to some mischief, managing to find a way to rub his itchy, healing eyes on the corner of a wall while still wearing his cone! As a result, needed an additional surgery to repair the damage he had done. To date, our medical bills and costs of caring for Captain have now exceeded $5,000. Will you help Captain get his second chance, and help other animals receive the urgent medical care they need?
